18:00 CSKA M. - Bayern Munich 3+ (1.65)
Champions of Russia and Germany will face each other in the first match of the second round of the Champions League, teams who were put in the same group for the second season in a row. Bayern was more successful last season and they defeated CSKA both times, it was 3-0 in Munich and 1-3 in Moscow. The Bavarian team is again the favourite, because in the first round CSKA was heavily defeated in Rome while Bayern won at home. In their leagues, both teams are in series of positive results so will start this match in good mood.
CSKA is a series of three victories in the league but it’s much easier competition than the Champions League which was best seen in the CL’s first round. In the Russian Premier League CSKA won two matches in a row but then played an away match against Roma that they lost by even 5-1. It was a real disaster and despite played with the strongest team they were losing by 4-0 after just half an hour. After that they continued to win in the championship and again are in a series of two victories, and they won in the Cup too.
Those were not some brilliant parties and they defeated Lokomotiv by mere 1-0, while on the last weekend in for them untypical match with plenty of goals have defeated as guests Ural by 4-3. They had a lot of luck and have secured the victory only in the very finish of the match. Their saviour was again striker Doumbia, who was spared at the beginning but he lately came off the bench. The rest of the team was the strongest possible and beside Doumbia almost certainly the same players will start this match.
Probable lineups CSKA Moscow: Akinfeev – Mario Fernandes, V. Berezutski, Ignashevich, Shchennikov – Natcho, G. Milanov – Tosic, Dzagoev – Musa, Doumbia
Bayern don’t play a memorable football but are still undefeated if we don’t count the Super Cup match, so it is no surprising that they returned at the top position in the Bundesliga’s standings. Because of two unexpected draws they had to leave that place at one moment were everyone sees them at the end of the season. At that point they stepped-up the rhythm and with two consecutive victories have again retaken the leading position. They firstly taught a lesson to the most pleasant surprise of the Bundesliga Paderborn 4-0, demonstrating them that are still not good enough for the first place, after which they routinely won in Cologne by 2-0.
That is why they can calmly prepare for this away match which, together with the victory over Manchester City, could bring another success and practically open the gate of the round of 16. Coach Guardiola will surely mix the team as due to injuries he doesn’t have available the whole range of players. Boateng is questionable, meaning that Benatia could again on the pitch. The formation will again have three players in the defence and the only thing that is seems safe is Lewandowski in the top of the attack.
Probable lineups Bayern Munich: Neuer – Rafinha, Benatia, Dante – Lahm, Xabi Alonso, J. Bernat – Robben, M. Gotze, T. Muller – Lewandowski
The host will try to improve the impression from the first round and to exploit the fact that Bayern are still not brilliant. It is possible that the CSKA manage to score a goal but we certainly expect that from Bayern, so the match could be an efficient one.
